Sidewalk Surfin

Well I'm a long long way and many thousand miles from home (Sidewalk Surfin, Sidewalk Surfin)
But when I heard the news I had to use the telephone
You see my best friend caught it and I hear that he's not alone
It's an epidemic and it's prowling the streets back home
It's sidewalk surfing no use pretending it doesn't exist
There's a growing army of millions waiting to enlist
Well I understand the craze is all the rage at Scarborough Beach
Swinging down the freeway, causeway and the Highway Leach
But I'm sure the guys and girls in Bicton really do it the best
Cause when it comes to sidewalk surfin’ there ain't really no contest.

Australian Heat

AUSTRALIAN HEAT
My phone gave a tingle 'bout a half-past four
I was lying nearly naked on my bathroom floor
A girl’s voice breathing deep says “I been watching you
From my fifth-floor kitchen window got an unobstructed view”
She said “You know Dave, ain't you a trifle indiscreet?”
“Well, maybe just a smidgin,
I’m just trying to get away from this Australian heat.”
And it'll penetrate your body from your nose down to your feet
There's just no escaping this Australian heat
I'm cruising up and down the freeway 'bout 3 a.m.
The beer became a gut ache and the gut ache became phlegm
I'm just cruising in the cool breeze looking for a place to spit
Tried to squeeze it out my window but I knew it wouldn't fit
A car pulls up beside "Police, what you doing on the street?"
“Me?”
"Yea you Warner?"
“I'm just trying to get away from this con-founded heat”
And it'll penetrate your body from your nose down to your feet
There's just no escaping this Australian heat
Bright light attracts a moth with a suicidal thud
And Mortein cannot smash that mossie pipeline to my blood
I try to read a Playboy but my eyes are just too sore
I keep thinking ‘bout that Penthouse on the fifth floor
I get up in the middle of the night and I get a bite to eat
I can't help always thinking ‘bout a rubbing up my meat
And it'll penetrate your body from your nose down to your feet
There's just no escaping this Australian heat

Strange Night

STRANGE NIGHT
Strange night, strange night, strange night, it was a very strange night
Strange night, strange night, strange night, it was a very strange night
I was doing my homework bout 7 o'clock
When all of a sudden at my door was a knock
Standing before me was my mate Tommy Moore
He left school just three months before
Said come over my place the folks are out
I got eight Emu Export and some Kalgoorlie Stout
It was a strange night.
Strange night, strange night, strange night, it was a very strange night
Strange night, strange night, strange night, it was a very strange night
Tommy and me and Frank and Jim
Got through three Emu Export when our heads start to swim
It was pouring with rain pissin down outside
Tom says I got Mum's car let's go for a ride
It was a strange night
Strange night, strange night, strange night, it was a very strange night
Strange night, strange night, strange night, it was a very strange night
Tom didn't have a licence but he could drive
Anyway you can't just sit down till 17 arrives
He cut a whippy round the corner spun wheels in the drive
At least it's one way of feeling alive
It was strange night
Strange night, strange night, strange night, it was a very strange night
Strange night, strange night, strange night, it was a very strange night
Darts over Ray Boon said goodbye to his mates
He got a bottle from Lizzy and the nod from fate
It was just after 10 when he left the hotel
And started on the route home he knew so well
It was a strange night
Strange night, strange night, strange night, it was a very strange night
Strange night, strange night, strange night, it was a very strange night
Ray was pleasantly pissed as he trudged through the rain
Whistling `Danny Boy’ and `Lily Marlene’
He'd almost made to the eighteenth bar
When he saw the lights from our oncoming car
"Can't see a thing, my windows are fogged"
(smash sound)
"Christ what as that?"
"Must have been a dog."
"Shouldn't we get out and maybe take a look?"
"That's okay by me if it's you they book"
It was a strange night
Strange night, strange night, strange night, it was a very strange night
Strange night, strange night, strange night, it was a very strange night
Thelma Boon was getting upset
Ray was late coming home but she wouldn't call the police yet
Tom skidded to a halt in his parents' garage
We got out to see where he's hit the verge
There was a bit of blood right across the bumper
I wiped it down with my Christmas jumper
Tom said "It was a pity about that dog
But I couldn't see nothing, my windows were fogged"
We all agreed it was a top night out
We still had two Emu Export and some Kalgoorlie Stout
Strange night, strange night, strange night, it was a very strange night
Strange night, strange night, strange night, it was a very strange night

Girls Wank

Girls wank and so do the interviewers on GTK
They yank they tug the best years of their lives away
They’re in love with the sound of their own voice
Swamped by a wave of intrigue
And they won’t admit when it comes to throwing shit
They’re still in the little league.
Girls wank and so do the growers of organic food
Trade unions bureaucrats and sun-bathing nudes
Trendy Australian playwrights knock our young executives
But their hands on their gland cause when you’re a young man
There ain’t much alternative
There ain’t much alternative.

HOT CROTCH
Sittin’ with my baby guzzling brown ale
She turned her nose up and swallowed a snail
Next night with her on my porch
I turn around she’s mounting my torch
Hot Crotch hot crotch
Boiling crotch steaming crotch
Glowin’ inside her gearbox revved like a Porsche
Smoke rising from it she’s a starting to scorch
She gripped my surface well though her tyres were bald
Like a pot of boiling oil her crotch would scald
Hot Crotch hot crotch
Boiling crotch steaming crotch

SUBURBAN ROCK
I'm anti-intellectual I'm a suburban boor
I'm not a punk rocker I been there before
Anyway punk rockers are really heads
They've only gone where the hippies lead
Me and my music are of the middle class
Fads come and go but the middle class lasts
Suburban Rock Suburban Rock TV Rock Suburban Rock
I'm Bill Lawry generation and like my father before
Like my beer after work and my four on the floor
I live with my parents don't smoke shit
If you do you're full of it
I make no apologies for not being poor
Working class culture's a loud mouth boor
Suburban rock, suburban rock, TV rock, suburban rock.
I don't ride subways don't sheer sheep
I don't live in the outback I think it's for creeps
We don't live in the desert we live by the sea
Take note students of Australian identity
Saturday football Wednesday TV
I've got my identity
I've got my identity
Suburban rock, suburban rock, TV rock, suburban rock.
I'm anti-intellectual I'm a suburban bore
I'm not a punk rocker I been there before
Anyway punk rockers are really heads
They've only gone where the hippies lead
Me and my music are of the middle class
Fads come and go but the middle class lasts
